It's unacceptable to fail getting a singniture or deliver in bulk when a "sign for" delivery is expected.
More than that is unacceptable for Royal Mail to lose the correspondence after it was successfully collected from the Post Office.
It's a good thing you only handle correspondence and not more important things or well all be in big trouble.
You're betraying customer trust when you're not providing the service that he paid for.
