Purchased a large sum of gold and after they received my payment, my gold was withheld from me and they required personal information such as my exact location, IP address, phone number, and government-issued ID.
This is a breach of consumer rights since the request for this information occurred after the transaction. This would be the exact same as buying a candy bar from a shop, and after you pay them they tell you that you can't have your candy bar unless you give them private information, which is illegal in the charter of consumer rights in North America, and many other parts in the world.
With this information, they could either sell it, or use it to recover an account of yours. Otherwise, there is no reason they would need a government-issued ID and all your personal information.
