I heard about a horse and young foal abandoned on a waste ground. My first thought was to call the RSPCA., you know that so called caring animal service. BULLC**P.
They didn't want to know. Went to the nearest police station in the end and told them. I explained what had happened and they said they were not surprised by their attitude as they have come across time and time again. They only attend when they know the animal is going to die - saves them money you see.
