The £157 watch was fine. The additional £49 VAT surcharge was NOT fine. There was nothing in the documentation to say that this was owed: shipping costs were stated as £0. There was no warning at all that a further 31% cost would be added to the watch ON THE DOOR. The delivery man would not deliver the watch without payment. Regardless of how much I saved on the watch itself, it is completely outrageous not to warn the customer in advance and an extraordinary way to do business which guarantees this customer will not be returning.
