I bought a packet of Sainsbury's Extra Lean Diced Beef 600g priced at £4.65.
No doubt their packaging is within the law but I find it very misleading. I was not buying 600grams of meat, the actual meat weight was only 530grams therefore the price I paid for meat was £8.15 per kilogram rather than the stated unit price of £7.75 per kilogram. I will in future buy my diced beef from my local butcher as you get the weight of meat you ask for.
Putting it another way, when you buy this Sainsbury product you are paying £0.54p for the packaging.
