II have a Samsung LCD TV, which I bought a few years back and is by now out of warranty. Recently, for some reason I have been unable to update the TV software, as advised (the instructions say that this can be done either on line or by USB, neither of which worked). I contacted their customer services. Initially, the operator claimed that the TV was not even LCD (he got the wrong model!!), eventually I got instructions of how to upgrade the software, which was the same as the instructions I had already followed (I had found these on their website). Eventually, a couple of weeks ago, I was told that I would be sent a USB with the software to enable me to update. However, today I received a phone call by someone at Samsung saying that “they were advised by their engineers” that my TV was faulty (no idea how they decided this from a distance) and so they had cancelled the dispatch of the USB. She helpfully gave me the phone number of “their local agent” who would be able to help me, but, of course, for a price.
It is not the first time that I have had problems with support and customer service with Samsung: they seem to be of the attitude of selling you an item and then ignoring you: appalling and unacceptable behaviour by such a large company that wants to be taken seriously
