We bought a 4 year old car from Sascron just over a year ago. If we had left a review straight away, it would have been good. Prior to buying the car, they agreed to touch up the usual paint chips etc, including a small ding on the rear bumper and a scrape on the front bumper - cosmetic but needed sorting. The car looked great when we collected it and we were reasonably happy. Just a few weeks later, the paint started to flake off both the front and rear bumper within days of each other. It was flaking off in hand sized pieces within days. We were shedding chunks of blue paint wherever we went. Both bumpers looked awful. Sascron refused to engage with us about this with us. They said they could not guarantee "factory paint on a four year old car" even though it clearly was not factory paint, and even suggested it could be down to the way I drove the car 😱. We had quite an email exchange with them. We sent photos, we then sent quotes for how much it was going to cost to repair. Sascron would not budge and would not accept responsibility. So we said we were getting it fixed and would take them to small claims court to recover our costs from them. Long story short, last week two days before we were due to go to court (having failed at the arbitration stage) and 11 months after the whole sorry saga started, we settled and we got the cost of our repairs back (although we did agree to cover the court costs ourselves - maybe we should have gone to court!). So my advice if you do buy from them, keep photos of everything (they kept on saying we had no case as we had no photos of the car from before we bought it showing the damaged bumpers and they even denied repainting them). Put all discussions in writing so you have a record. Look at citizens advice website who will tell you that as a second hand car dealer it is THEIR responsibility to prove that issues arising shortly after purchase did NOT exist when you bought the car, and that it should also be fit for purpose. Follow procedures and accept it will not be resolved quickly. They always responded to Court requirements at the very last minute. We also never managed to get a letter signed for by them, despite several attempts, but they did receive our letters as they replied to them, so I suspect it is their policy never to sign for anything. If you have a good case, hang on in there and stay calm. Don't let them get away with trying to rip you off and not taking responsibility for the issues.
