Why are schools still selling this stuff? Every “book fair” my now 8 year old son comes home w a bunch of dollar store toys and no books. I put my foot down and said pick some books and I’ll give you money for what I feel is appropriate. He came home with a $30 wish list that didn’t include a single book. The night ended in a battle over a chocolate smelling calculator that cost $10. Absolutely not. I guess we aren’t teaching math anymore.
This has turned into another money making scheme, now targeted at young children who are being “bullied” for not bringing in $70 to buy junk. What was meant to be a good influence has only made children spoiled or left in the dust, just making it harder on the parents who are trying to teach values.
