We were told to set up an wallet for our children, which they would not honor or accept at the fair. They turned my son away, embarrassing him in front of staff and students. The explanation was "oops, that wasn't supposed to happen" and no you can't get a refund from the e wallet...it will be there till you find a way to spend it. Scholastic is a scam company, and I am now having to file a fraud claim on my card to get my money returned from. This scam company who is stealing from children.

They charged me $60.00 each for my two grandsons in grade school! My grandsons only received $30.00 each to buy books. They won’t credit back $60.00 to my credit card. Also they can’t find my e-mail with my contribution!!!!!

This company carries a bunch of Hannakah jooo books. Look up "Christmas" books and there is not a single book of Jesus Christ! They carry silly celebrity and taylor swift books with worthless information that dumb down children. The worst book company that could care less about childrens education. This is an anti-Christian company.

Terrible customer service. I immediately emailed them to cancel my order after accidentally ordered the wrong book and filled the wrong address. They lied to me the book was shipped, but actually the book wasn't shipped yet (I don't see shipping number). They didn't want to cancel my orders.

Although they have good products, there customer service is rated at one of the worst. I signed up for Scholastic in 2021 so that my child can get books buy family and friends giving through a link you can send through shop.scholastic.com. We all know the craziness going on that year, but the link was good and could easily be put on to my social media pages, as well as I could send it out via text. My child was able to get books from 2021 through 2022 and I even put the cash I received into the online wallet for future usage. However, my child changed schools for the next year; and of course Scholastic did recognize the change I put into the profile, which caused issues with the next school year. I could not use the money in the wallet at any physical school bookfair. Since it was a better school, meaning they were given 5 books free through the three bookfairs they had, I was okay with allowing the financial credit when buying through the website that they claim to go to an underserved school. However, this last school year 2023-2024 was even worst, I still had issues with not being able to use the money in the online wallet at the first bookfair. Next they moved the money in the wallet to a gift card and closed my online wallet; and their system refused to allow me to create another wallet. I called about the issue multiple times and "you know it" got multiple answers to my problem. My last call was just a couple months ago about the issue, they told me I had to be present at the school for my child to use the money in the wallet (the online wallet was fixed by then). The schools Media Specialist verified that that was wrong and I actually witness them paying for items using information in the system for another student. I closed my online account, they didn't verify my identity, just my email address, which is scary anyone can close your account. I will not being using their online products and will only buy in the store if needed.

The week of my son‘s book fair I set up an EWallet. Thinking this would be very simple. I then purchased an E gift card. Which I “NEVER RECEIVED” through my email to add to my sons EWallett. I then called in, I was told there was no record of my purchase, though it was pending in my checking account! The representative then told me I could fund the EWallet by purchasing funds with a credit card, Which I did! I was told by this representative if the E gift card cleared my account, I could call back for a refund!!! I had no intentions of spending $40 at the scholastic book fair, Only the $20 that I originally Purchased. I have been denied my refund for the gift card that I never received, when I needed it. It has Magically been sent to me now that my sons book fair is over and I do not want it. I have been lied to, wasted numerous phone calls and emails, trying to get my money back for something I was told could be refunded! If this is the policy of scholastic book fair, is no refunds, then the representatives should be educated on the subject! I recommend sending cash with your child to the scholastic book fair!!

Found out that they are selling inappropriate books at the book fairs at schools. My third grader brought home a book that had a cute kitten on the cover & had no idea that it was a book about a 7th grade lesbian until you get into reading a bit in the book... and it just got worse from there.... way too advanced for kids, especially elementary age children.... Stop pushing this agenda on these kids, especially the littles. It is so deceiving to trick little ones and parents who have no clue what book they will pick because it is during school hours. Guess we have to find a way to make sales, right? Shame on the author & Scholastic. We will no longer participate in book fairs or anything from this company that continues to deceive people & children. Sad

Why are schools still selling this stuff? Every “book fair” my now 8 year old son comes home w a bunch of dollar store toys and no books. I put my foot down and said pick some books and I’ll give you money for what I feel is appropriate. He came home with a $30 wish list that didn’t include a single book. The night ended in a battle over a chocolate smelling calculator that cost $10. Absolutely not. I guess we aren’t teaching math anymore. This has turned into another money making scheme, now targeted at young children who are being “bullied” for not bringing in $70 to buy junk. What was meant to be a good influence has only made children spoiled or left in the dust, just making it harder on the parents who are trying to teach values.

What happened to this company? As a veteran teacher and parent, everything they are doing lately continues to cause more frustration and be a disappointment. From lack of quality books and sky-high prices, to purchasing errors and pathetic flyers, I can't continue to rely on Scholastic. This company used to stand for so much more. I can't stand behind it anymore.

Terrible that you cannot pay with cash or you won’t put staff in place to take payments.

I am very disappointed in Scholastic. I will not be participating in Scholastic Book Clubs this year. Some of our populations do not use Internet in their homes. It also takes away flexibility for teachers and parents. Prices have risen a lot. Such a disappointment. I will be looking for another way to get books into the hands of my students in their homes. There are other companies I can find books. I have been a customer since 1997 and no longer will be.

You have completely complicated the ordering process for teachers by taking away the student flyer orders. Not all parents use the internet or will not take the time to order books when they can do it easier on Amazon. I refuse to pay shipping and handling for my student orders. Ridiculous! I have been a customer for 17 years-but I will no longer be using scholastic books. Your representative Karen was curt and rude when I inquired about this. She said hang on to orders until it totals more than $25.00. So students have to wait until someone else decides to order??!! Again-RIDICULOUS!!!!!! Good luck with your sales.

Scholastic has now changed their student flyers, so that students MUST order online. I am a teacher, who has given out flyers and done class book orders for over 25 years! When I contacted Scholastic to explain that the students I work with need to order books at school, from me, as some are homeless or have no tech at home, the company did NOT respond to my plea. I created my own order form for the student flyers, so that my students could order the books that they wanted from me at school. Today, when I went to put their orders on the Scholastic website, I discovered there is no place to put student orders in. I contacted Scholastic and in a chat response from a rep named Christian, I was informed that I had to put the student orders in under teacher and I was going to be taxed on them. I had to pay almost $10 of my own money, so that my students could get books that in the past were NOT TAXED. The rep Christian had zero solutions for this problem. Because I promised my students their books I put in their orders, under teacher, and paid the tax. I have personally made this company a GREAT deal of money over the years, with my student orders. This, however, will be my LAST book order with Scholastic. It used to be a teacher friendly company, but not anymore.

Just checked the new book fliers and I cannot believe the prices! The price for a book has doubled or tripled since I ordered in April! No one will be able to afford these prices. I will buy books at Wal Mart or Amazon from now on.

If you are looking for LGBT books, this is the place to find those books for elementary students. If you're against this woke agenda, boycott them and stop buying anything from scholastic! There are other forms to support the schools!

Horrible customer service. My class order wasn't even shipped, literally placed the order 12 hours before. Said I couldn't change anything eventhough it hadn't even shipped. Her response, there's no one to help you, just return the books.

The children where I work ordered books in February and they still haven't received the books nor have the parents received their money back. One parent ordered seventy five dollars worth of books and no one is giving answers. I will never deal with this company again.
