I am new to kilts and this is my first one and I realised I dont have standard measurements so I needed one custom taylored. There are plenty of online companies and choices, but I chose Scottish Kilt because they were in North America and reasonably priced for a first trial. The utility kilt I got is well made with thick cotton fabric and seems made very sturdy. It might not be the thickest, but I just need my kilt for hot summer months (I live in Montreal Canada) as ordinary clothing so it is perfect. The sizing was right on, but only after a bit of shrinking from an initial warm wash. They don't include any notice to warn you of this for newbies like me. I was also quite concerned when the package tracking (which is a nice feature) indicated it came from Pakistan and travelled half the world by plane to get to me in a week or two. I understand many companies make their kilts in Pakistan, which seems to combine cheaper labour and kilt culture, but it was not obvious on their site (it is indicated deep in their FAQ section). I wish I had known that, because I do care about my carbon/ecological footprint. One way to mitigate this would be to offer a shipping by boat option. I dont care if it takes an additional month to get to me if I can lower my GHG emissions. Without such an option, I dont know if I would order a second one, here or from any company shipping from Pakistan by plane. I did send two emails to their Support service and they did reply nicely, but did not merge my emails by my order number, so I got two streams of emails. They replied in reasonable time and were very polite and tried to help, but in the end, they did not mention shrinking from washing (maybe too obvious to them) and did not tell me what type of snap fasterners they used for me to be able to change sizing if need be (they suggested velcro). So A for effort and C+ for content. Overall, I am very happy with the kilt itself and I look forward to try it this summer. I do like their model with "real" pockets in addition to ouside ones, I think this will be very pratical for daily life. (6 for recommendation because of the airplane shipping issue, and most email replies within 24/48 hours).
