I made the mistake of purchasing sofas and carpets from SCS and my problems started from there.
On delivery of the sofas, I noticed that they were way undersized from what was advertised and looked ridiculously small in my living room. I measured the space in my room to make sure the sofas would fit so knew they were the wrong size. I measured the sofas and to my shock, they were way smaller than what they should have been.
I contacted SCS about this after finally managing to get through to them by phone and they sent a technician out. He agreed they were the wrong size and said he would pass this on to SCS.
SCS didn't get in touch with me so I contacted them, then to my shock, they said the report shows there is nothing wrong with the sofas and they will be doing nothing about it.
Then the problems started with the carpets, I purchased what I thought was good quality carpets, underlay and grippers but straight away the carpets were excessively shedding. Obviously carpets shed when first laid but the shedding of this carpet was ridiculous. I thought that this would eventually stop but it just got even worse.
The shedding eventually resulted in holes appearing in patches in a lot of different places on the carpet. All you could see was the backing of the carpet, it looked a really bad mess. The carpet that was taken out to be replaced was in better condition than the one SCS fitted.
I phoned and emailed SCS so many times but they did nothing, so I phoned Citizens advice.
I was advised to write letters stating my consumer rights which I did but SCS still did nothing about the sofas as they said there was nothing wrong with them. They did send a woman out to look at the carpets, she said they had a manufacturing fault and SCS will be back in touch but surprise surprise they never contacted me back. I also sent in photographic evidence to SCS and the finance companies which were Ikano and Creation but they did nothing either.
I then decided to make a claim with MONEY CLAIMS ONLINE as why should I pay for faulty and misdescribed goods.
I made a claim online which cost me £180.00 and waited for a response from SCS.
I must say SCS replied to my claim quickly but still had the cheek to dispute the claim, so I took it further and the courts arranged a free mediation service.
A mediation lady phoned me on an arranged day and spoke to me and listened to my case, she then spoke to someone from SCS. After all, this SCS agreed to take away my sofas and cancel the finance. They also agreed to cancel the finance for the carpets and reimburse me for the payments already made.
I also stated I wanted my £180 court fee back which SCS didn't mention but I also got that back. SCS also damaged my property delivering the sofas and I got awarded £150 for that also.
It has caused me nothing but hassle dealing with this horrible company which is why I have wanted to leave a review so that others don't make the same mistake.
Please, if you are in the receipt of faulty or misdescribed goods don't let SCS fob you off and keep your money, do as i did and file a claim against them with Money Claims Online, yes you will have to pay for this service but you WILL get your money back as SCS know they're in the wrong and will fold eventually. They are just hoping that you will go away and give up.
SCS are breaking the law by refusing to give refunds for faulty goods and they know this, so file a claim with Money Claims Online and get your money back, it's easy to do, I did it online and i'm so glad i did.
