I used to use another online service for my birth control, when I was uninsured. Then I got insurance during the pandemic through the state since I had been laid off. The other service was considered out-of-network with my insurance, and thus wasn’t covered. Rather than spend $60 to get my 3 month supply of birth control through them, I searched for other services that would be in-network for me. I found SimpleHealth that way. Not only did they actually work with my insurance so I had no out-of-pocket cost, but I found that they had SO many more options for birth control than the last service I used. I was on a regular estrogen pill through the other service, and their provider didn’t mention to me that was a risky move since I am in my 30s and a smoker. When I switched to SimpleHealth, their provider suggested that I make the switch to the low estrogen version of the pill that I was on. I could still skip my periods and not put myself at higher risk of blood clots. The last service that I used didn’t even offer the low estrogen version of that pill. I am so happy that I found SimpleHealth, and I have plenty of options at my fingertips any time I desire something different from my birth control. Their providers are also great — I had so many questions about how different types of birth control would work for me, and I have always gotten timely answers through them. I will never switch back to another service, even if I were to lose my health insurance. I would rather give my money to a service that cares about what is best for my body, provides me with plenty of options, and helps me make an informed decision about my health. Bonus points for including the morning after pill with your birth control order, just in case you have a slip up!
