It is not just Sky that are bad, all tele- communication companies seen to be unregulated, you sign up for your contract, they can increase the price several times, and you are basically stuck. It will cost a considerable sum frequently to end your contract early. These companies still use door and street selling, my problems started with BT, two reprsentatives knocked, offered a far cheaper package than Sky, advised they would take care of everything, cancel my direct debit and inform Sky, even advised that BT would cover any cancel contract fees. This was not the case, BT granted me £100 off my bill as a good will gesture. Basically do not trust any door step or street approach, they catch you off guard, they receive commission so are willing to go to considerable lengths to sell the product. If there is a problem the ombudsman applies the law on the contract, as a individual against these companies chances of a fair outcome seems slight. All tele-com companies contracts need to be entered in to with great care.
