I've been using SMS broadcast for a number of years now, both for business and personal reasons. I first came across it when looking for a way to communicate with referees and coaches during a large rugby tournament. The ability to communicate quickly and efficiently with different groups throughout the day meant that it was one of the most successful events we have ever run. I have also used it to communicate with parents the football team I coach - so much quicker to be able to send a text message to a group using my computer than stabbing away at a tiny keyboard on my phone! The fact that the message comes from my mobile number, and replies are sent to my mobile, makes it superior to other services I have used.
