We love it and so does our dog. We have a great dane mix who gets cold easy and likes to be covered up. When we found these beds we decided to give it a try. It has a very thick bed. The hood only stays up a few inches when empty- just enough to get the snout under and flip up. She caught on very quickly how to flip up the top so she can get in. We bought the largest size and she has plenty of room to move around. When she laid on the bed the first few days, we would pull the hood up so she could tell there was more to the bed. After only 5-6 days, we found her laying inside and neither of us had helped her in. We haven't washed it yet so can't attest to durability. Be sure your dog likes to be enclosed. Our blue heeler will lay on top of the comfy bed but has no desire to be inside. I would buy one again for a burrowing pup.
