I'm looking to cancel my policy with Swinton. I would expect the premium to not be paid for the remaining period of the policy.
Instead, Swintons are charging me nearly £300.
The reason is an unsuccessful claim that we made a couple of months prior. My son's bike was stolen, and I wasn't sure if it was covered by our policy. When I spoke to the team to ask, they suggested that I claim as that would be the only way to find out for sure. Which I did.
It turned out not to be covered. Shame, but I accept that - if it's not in the policy, then it shouldn't be paid.
But now I come to cancel the policy, and instead of having the remaining premium cancelled, Swinton are asking me to pay £287 for the claim that wasn't covered.
Is that not beyond ridiculous?
