I've shared my home with a tail wagging Labrador clock for many years now and basically can't manage without it! Recently, even though the tail kept wagging, the hands wouldn't move.
I guess I should have tried to get it mended but instead ordered a replacement which arrived safely in two days. I'm happy again. I now have one working clock in the kitchen and a dog wagging its tail in my utility room!
