I already own a Patagonia Stormfront backpack for fly fishing in NZ where the bad weather can come on faster than a politician on a free lunch. I bought the Stormfront hip pack for those times when times when I don't need to carry as much but I still want to keep everything dry. The t-zip provides a completely waterproof seal and the shoulder strap helps share the load. Its 10 litre capacity is plenty enough to do the job. I'm no fan of huge waist packs that encourage you to over stuff them and then end up feeling unbalanced and uncomfortable. Not cheap but worth it for a quality bit of kit.
