We stayed at Bicester, Cherwell Valley M40 Travelodge. It was not an appalling experience, but nor was it thrilling. We arrived very late - 11.30pm - and we had to walk about 40 yards along a totally unlit pathway from the car park to the front door, carrying a number of bags. The check-in though was excellent. Keys were thrust in our hands with the car reg number the only formality required. Staff were warm and courteous. The room was pleasantly spacious, with two chairs and somewhere to place a suitcase. The bed though was not especially comfortable and the pillows lumpy. But the worst aspect was the bathroom. Someone had glued some fabric to the bottom of the bath, presumably to prevent slipping. This had gone mouldy/dirty at the edges. It was so unappealing that we both avoided taking a shower. The toilet seat was loose and wobbly. There was no detachable shower head.
