We have used Travelodge several times this year, different ones in the Cotswold region. The beds are always dreamily comfortable. In the older hotels, the rooms, including the bathrooms are roomy and the furniture blonde, uplifting with its colour with plenty of shelf space, counter space and bedside table space - the newer hotels don't have enough shelf/counter/bedside space and do not use the lovely blonde furniture. We prefer the older hotels for this reason plus the fact that they still use keys rather than the infuriating key cards. Food at Stratford restaurant is just so good, we try and stay there when we can. The food is so tasty and the morning scrambled eggs are to die for. Well done. Occasionally there are minor problems, we have reported a smell from a hand basin of cabbage-like quality and a spillage of disinfectant that had puddled next to the bedside and soaked the socked feet that walked by the bed - we reported it at the desk and asked for it to be mopped up but nothing was done about it, we noticed, when we came back that night. In some of the newer hotels which we have stayed in throughout the country, the reading lights have been of many different types and none of them work properly - please stick to the type in the older hotels. The staff are very friendly and it is nice to have local staff who understand what you are saying. In the past, we have encountered staff who have had so little English that no kind of conversation could be had with them, which, when you are asking for a service, doesn't really work. I suspect that Brexit has put paid to this problem. When we leave the 'please top me up' flag on the door, I would prefer that the bins are emptied at the same time. Instead of having to remember to take extra tea makings to our room, it would be nice if they just gave us a decent amount in the first place - we're only asking for double the amount so that we can have a cuppa when we come in in the evening and one in the morning when we wake up. We use Travelodge because they provide a room, in which they allow three adults to stay in one room, which means that our adult daughter can share with us when the three of us go. We also use Travelodge because they are the cheapest option. We are currently visiting the Cotswolds for business once a fortnight and Travelodge is just about affordable (we don't get the money back from work). Also, we like Travelodge, there are no pretentions - it is what it is and you get what you get and for the most part, we like what we get. Well done. If you insist on refurbishing the older hotels, please, just update the carpets, nothing else needs changing, we like it how it is - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
