Rented through Turo for the first time. Car was confirmed and paid for a month before my trip. But texting the host the day before I didn't get a response. So I called the contact number. Turns out to be a google phone service number. Starting to seem dodgy. Sure enough, when I arrive at the destination airport, no host, no car, no response to any of my messages.
I call Turo to cancel and they start to argue with me that the rental already started (my flight was 30 minutes late). After I objected loudly they did agree to refund me, but now I was stranded.
Then, when I tried to leave a review, I realized because the trip was cancelled, you can't leave a review. So their reviews are completely biased: there's no way to lower the reputation of hosts that just leave guests in the lurch.
This app is a complete scam. Just use an ordinary rental company. Here's hoping their IPO tanks before their scumbag execs get to cash out.
