VW wanted to charge over £260 for the sacrificial mounting on my nearside mirror following vandalism. I got the part from 'Vee dub' for £5.49 and changed it with the help of you tube tutorials. I'll spent £254.51 on something better than my local dealer, like a nice set of roof bars. Give it a try, im totally incompetent at mechanical stuff but have loads of time in lock down.
