I gave them my luggage, they held it for me, and I was able to retrieve it about 8 hours later after seeing the city. Interesting concept for smaller stores to make some extra cash. I would imagine reliability would fluctuate depending the store, but I think it's safe because they can be held liable for the losses ($5k insurance on each piece of luggage).
This was a very convenient and reasonably priced service without which I wouldn't have seen as much of NYC (or at least not in a great mood). Thanks!
