Bought the Alpha bumper plates. Cost was a little higher, but now I can lift in the garage or on the concrete patio without any worry. I do use a thin rubber mat so that plates don't get marred up because I like to keep things nice. No clanking or pinched fingers. Yes they have a rubber smell since they are new rubber but it will go away. IF YOU BUY RUBBER PLATES THEY WILL SMELL LIKE RUBBER - DON'T COMPLAIN!
