Walmart Canada is failing and not just at this location. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Incensed is more like it. I entered with a simple customer service transaction in mind: to tell you your new sushi made me sick and that I preferred the Benito sushi, made fresh. After having to break up what looked like some unknown cultural social event at the counter among staff and expressing my feedback I was met with the vacant stare of a store personele who either didn't understand what I was saying, didn't care, or didn't know what cultural expectations exist for simple customer feedback. Next, I was looking for some Crocs, a simple enough quest. Nothing but size 8's and one size 9! This is a common product with a year-round appeal (for some). Manage your stock as Canadians have become used to over multiple generations: send back stock in sizes that isn't selling and restock those that are! Then I was looking for a simple ready-to-eat meal. Try as I might I could not get the associate to understand the difference between a "meal" and a standalone salad (cole slaw, macaroni salad). M.E.A.L!! Then in a near-empty store I found aisle after aisle blocked by Walmart "convenience shoppers" for absent customers, with multiple-basket carts diagonally across the aisle. They were blind to approaching in-store customers as in, why should they have a need to expedite their shopping and get on their way? Finally, there was the quest for the ubiquitous gummy bears. With a MONSTER shelf full of candy, you only have ONE brand. The ones as hard as lumps of cold clay. With ALL that space . . . you couldn't have a SINGLE quality alternative?? Walmart Canada is slowly winding itself into an obscurity only guarded against . . . by having run out all other competing retail chains. And that means a resented obscurity where people start only going to your store as a last resort and then with an expectation of disappointment that is frequently met. Your market is NOT that hard to comprehend. Just treat them as Canadians have become accustomed to being treated for generations. And before you might want to mumble "racist" or "white supremacist", I don't care WHAT color people's skin are. So long as they are competent at the role in the cultural space they have sought out. DO BETTER!! The above feedback to the company STILL has not found a place to "land" at any e-mail, corporate office, or in-person (as stated above). The only "landing pad" for it has been on the walmart.ca site which of course, is a "contracted service by the main corporation"!
