Monday July 5th to Monday July 12th Touring Pitch Kingfisher 6 Motorhome Overgrown, Faded Signage, Tired, & Outdated, and that was just the entrance The Waveney River Centre website says they are Covid safe, but with only eight unisex combined toilet / shower rooms and two family rooms available, cleaned only three times a day Monday to Friday, and twice a day on Saturday and Sunday and with 34 tent pitches, 6 Pods sleeping 4, and 7 Yurts sleeping 6, there are a possible 134 people at busy times using inadequate facilities , not including any people from caravans and motorhomes. We have always used the site facilities during our 15 years of touring, but my wife used our own shower for the first time on this site. If you intend taking a caravan or motorhome, then please make sure your manoeuvring skills are good, as the “passing places” on the 4.5 mile single track approach road are barely the width of a cars wheel and not very long, so be prepared to reverse. All pitches are small, very worn, with overgrown hedges and full of dead leaves. They are meant to be large enough to take a caravan, awning and car side by side – they are not. The Heron pitches are so dark with the overgrown tree foliage, I think they were using a torch during the day to see. The waste water point for our Kingfisher Serviced pitch was located in a concrete base about a foot higher than the pitch, and as water doesn’t travel uphill it proved useless. There was also no dedicated accessible fresh and waste water point for motorhomes, and we had to assist three other motorhomes with filling their tanks from our pitch tap. The Park shop was very sparsely stocked, mainly with the standard Norfolk gifts of shortbread, fudge and key rings etc. There were basics, plus of course Beers, Cider and cans of soft drinks but very expensive, a pint of milk was £1, and the freezer cabinets were almost empty. Staff informed us that if you wanted something to ask, as the Waveney Inn held the stock and sometimes forgot to fill the shelves. We had a meal at the Waveney Inn, arriving at 4.45pm to avoid the busy evening period. There were only two other parties in, and a very reduced menu. We only had fish and chips followed by a dessert, and left two and a quarter hours later due to poor service, and mistakes with our orders– don’t bother. The free Park Wi-Fi only worked around reception, with no signal anywhere else on the Park. We left a day early, on Sunday, and wont be returning.
