For a very long time, my Mum has thought that when I talk about 'my wine friend' I was talking about my friend Aimee. She thought that once a month, my friend was sending me six carefully curated wines for me to try. To be fair, she's not far wrong - but rather than it being my wine friend Aimee, it's the fantastic team of people at WineFrend. As a millennial, I have a load of subscription services. Netflix, Disney, Neon, the gym (lol). I can safely say that WineFriend is the one that is worth the money. I joined because I wanted to broaden my horizons from Cab Sav and Chardonnay, and rather than blindly pick bottles based on labels, I have a whole team of friendly, helpful people (I imagine) sitting around, reviewing what I've liked and said, and carefully selecting six for the next month.
I must be honest, I thought that the reviews was just shouting into a vacuum until I wrote a tribute to my dog when he died and they all got in touch. And again, when recurring character one-can Sam finally showed an interest in something not from a brewery in Mangatainoka. So in a way, I have not just one wine friend but a whole lot of WineFriends.
It's like a subscription service with a penpal.
