Something has happened recently at the Winesale shop. Last year, it had a great selection of wines from France, Italy, Sicily and elsewhere. Including NZ and Australia obviously.
But most of those European wines have gone, replaced with cheap and nasty wines from Chile, Argentina, South Africa. Possibly because they have a low sourcing cost and a higher profit margin - I can't really say but I suspect that's the reason. What I *do* know is that it is now a real struggle for someone who prefers mid-priced French and Italian red wines, to find any.
The knowledge behind the counter (last year) also used to be great. Now, there is little help to be had.
The store has really gone "down market". Down hill. It used to be good and I used to buy a lot. Now I visit occasionally and I often come away with no wines at all. I rarely buy there now, even though I try.
Let's go back to the way it was!
