I am refurbishing an old desk chair that I got from a friend. It was missing two horizontal leg braces. I ordered oak dowels to replace them. The dowels fit well and the oak grain matched the chairs grain. I have yet to stain the entire thing but I am sure most folks will not notice the replacement. I am sure that at the end of the day it will look great.
