I needed a 1/8 inch diameter wooden dowel and Woodpecker has them for a great price. As for how I use them, well, I cut off 1/16 inch long dots and glue them to magnets. This way when I put a spring on the magnet, instead of it running off to the side of the magnet, the dot stops it and forces it to stay centered. Picture a 1/16 inch long piece of the rod glued to a 5/16 diameter magnet. Not much of a picture.
