I enjoy building small projects. Years ago I actually did craft shows and my main item was a covered wagon night light. The wagon is less than 18" long. I mill all the wood myself except for the hubs and the dahl rods. I use the dahl rods for the spokes, the axles and the tongue. As you will see in the attached picture I use wooden beads for the hubs. I know some better crafters build the hubs from scratch. But I don't have that level of tools. Maybe someday.
