Spindles have been around for a very long time. Locally, the thigh spindle is known as the Navajo Spindle. Using 4-7" (1" equivalent) and 2-4" (1/2 " equivalent) discs gives them a good weight feel and makes them easy to spin. Used a lot at El Rancho de las Golondrinas; living museum in Santa Fe, NM.
