I had a feather duvet and pillows with a thin cotton covered hollow-fibre protector under a cotton fitted sheet. It was nice but I always ended up too hot and my girlfriend was always too cold. Much like everyone else here I was sceptical. £250 for a solution I wasn't sure about was a bit of a gamble. I went for the deluxe topper + deluxe protector + 1 deluxe pillow for myself. I still get quite warm during the night but it's a different type of warm now. There's no sweatiness issues so I don't end up in a damp patch. That difference is worth every penny. When I lifted the calico bag with the topper out of the delivery box one rope handle ripped straight out of the calico bag so it's useless now. I'm not unhappy but it would have been nice to use for storing my spare pillows. It was a tight fit in the box so I pulled harder than the bag was designed for to try and get it out. It's my own fault for being in a hurry, I should have ripped the box open before lifting the bag out. Lastly, I feel like a little more depth would be nice. If The Woolroom comes out with a deluxe topper that is 2-3 times thicker than this one I would buy it. 3cm is nice but I'm a sucker for comfort. Still giving 5 stars because I wanted to sleep better and this made it possible.
