I purchased an Outwell Dual protector for my Outwell Drummond 7 tent, which Outwell claim protects and darkens your tent plus if used silver side up as opposed to darker side up , it reduces the heat inside the tent, and the integral side canopy matches up with the tents side door when silver side up -thus giving you extra shade / rain protection over side door of tent as well as the benefit of keeping the tent cooler. We took it away to france and tried it on the roof of the tent for the first time, and found that when used Silver side up the fixings on the roof canopy would not line up with the tents main frame poles where they needed to be attached. In the end we found it fitted perfectly siver side up -but with the side canopy on the opposite side of the tent to where the side door was situated, which was disappointing to say the least. The canopy did however reduce the heat from the sun by a huge amount ! we were able to walk inside the tent without being blown out by the terrific heat which usually builds up - plus the added darkness helped us sleep better as the outwell tents are very bright inside, which is not conducivve to good sleep ins during the light summer nights/ early mornings. I photographed the protector when in situ and sent off the pictures to World Of Camping - who were very helpful in sorting out my problem, and as this is a new product from Outwell - even the retailer had no user experience / feedback of this dual protectors functioning. It seems that this cover does not allow the side canopy to line up with the tents side door when placed silver side up, as Outwell advertise, however the cooling effect is excellent. The side door canopy will only line up with the dark side of the canopy facing upwards but the cooling effect is lost due to no reflecting of the suns rays from off tent roof. I would not hesitate to vouch for the excellent customer service from world of Camping, they were very open , Honest and Honorouble in their dealings with me , and I shall continue to use them in future.
