The initial experience seemed good, great showroom, friendly staff but things are not all they seem. We went though the design and included tall wall cupboards to ceiling height and wanted a tall larder cupboard but that would not be manufactured to ceiling height. A suggestion was made by the designer to add decor panels to "box in" the top of the larder to match the height of the other wall cupboards. These parts were added. A plan of our kitchen was sent and it looked great!! We went to other suppliers and saw some vertical bi-fold wall cupboards that we really liked so by email we asked the Wren designer to change our wall cupboards to these, they were shorter cupboards so would not be at ceiling height which meant that the larder would not need to be boxed in, at this point the designer did not point this out and as I am neither a designer or fitter did not realise that the added parts would not be required. The order was placed and the process was good, informative and well arranged. The kitchen arrived and was fitted by an independent fitter, part way through the build he questioned what some of the parts were for, I had no idea so called the store to be told they were for boxing in the larder cupboard. I thought that they would have been removed at the design change but no. I was not too worried until I started totting up the costs, they got to over £400 and suddenly seemed expensive. I contacted the store to arrange the return but was told that as I had signed for them that they were mine with no possibility of refund. I am now the proud owner of some useless shiny bits of kitchen that I paid quite a bit of money for. I know the designers are paid commission so are very click happy with decor panels etc and when questioned will say that every part would be required. A reasonable designer would have known that the design change would have made the "boxing in" not required but that would have reduced the overall cost by at least £400 so it is more profitable to leave it in at the expense of the customer. I would never use Wren again and I would suggest if you get a plan to get it independently checked by an experienced kitchen designer/fitter to ensure you don't spend hard earned cash on shiny bits of kitchen that you do not need. The kitchen we bought was from the infinity plus range so supposedly high quality, it arrived with chips, and scuffs in places along with thin paint on a few panels with base coat showing through. This makes me think that it will not be a long lasting finish for everyday life, I am hoping that I am wrong as that would really sour an already unpleasant kitchen buying experience. I do have to credit the after sales team who arranged the replacement doors without fuss so I can at least replace the poor quality and damaged items, at least that bit is done correctly. The kitchen will look good once the new doors are replaced but using a premium supplier has been a less than premium experience.
