I thought Argos was a trustworthy brand - it is always being advertised as this great Company that excels in what they do - but after the past two days of dealing with them, I have completely changed my mind and I really regret ever trying to purchase anything from them.
I wanted to purchase two furniture sets from them and, despite the fact that many of the options I liked were out of stock for delivery at my address, I decided on one of the available sets anyway.
I added two of the same set to my basket and tried to proceed to checkout. At the checkout page I imputed the coupon code advertised on the website for an extra 20% off full price and then I tried to book a delivery slot - here is when the first bug on their website showed. Everytime I would try and book the delivery it would give an error code and make me redo everything. This continued to happen for approximately 5 or 6 times before I could move past the delivery slot booking.
Next came the payment options. I decided that, for my convenience I was going to apply for a Buy Now, Pay Later on a 12 month term. I selected this option read the T&C's, agreed to their terms and I was told that I was eligible for the offer. So I completed another form with all my details and, as soon as I clicked sign agreement, an unexpected error occoured and rendered void a good 20 minutes of my life. I didn't give up though, I tried a further 5-6 times to apply again but to no avail - The same technical issue kept coming up on the screen.
At the point I decided that I would phone them but the lady on the phone said she could not help me as my 20% off voucher could not be applied unless I made the purchase of the goods online.
At that point I decided to just pay with my card, since there was no other way to go about the purchase. But again, It took me about 6-7 tries to finally make the amount go throught...my card was charged and I waited for the order conirmation to appear on the screen...but nothing. On the landing page I was informed somthing went wrong with their system again.
I checked my card balance though and the amount had gone off my account already. I phoned the bank to double check if the transaction was pending or if it had gone through and it had gone through.
I then called Argos to try and find out what I could do to get my order since the money was paid to them and the whole issue was caused by their system's bugs. The lady on the phone replied by saying she could do nothing for me and that I must just wait 48hours and then call them back.
At that point I asked her if I could speak to a supervisor who could maybe assist further and she refused saying she is not allowed to let me speak to the supervisor and that they can't offer any sorts of help. I tried explaining to her that it's unfair that they would refuse to help when my funds went through and there was no fault on my part and she said that I am being difficult and that I must just wait.
So I asked again if i could speak to a supervisor given that they have my funds and she is refusing to help me in any way and she started saying she doesn't tolerate people speaking to her like that and informed me she was going to hang up on me. And she did hang up. I was quite shocked to say the least, so I tried live chatting to someone to see if they could help me and they just refused to offer me any help and they hang up the live chat on me when I insisted to get assistance for my problem.
So here I am now with my funds gone hence unable to place an order for the furniture I need urgently, and unsure on how to get my funds back since no one at Argos was willing to help me in any way. I know at times it happens that someone isn't having a good day and they are unwilling to help customers or at least speak to them in a professional manner, but here it's every adviser you speak to behaving that way. I am utterly shocked and saddened with the experience I have had with Argos and I would not recommend them to anyone, not if this is the level of customer care they have.
