I have experienced problems with product price and availability in an Asda store, and am concerned at what appears to be a lack of business ethics and honesty by Asda.
Asda’s website quotes a reduced price for a dairy product, down from £1.95 to £1.
I went to an Asda store and found the product to be priced at £1.95, and I queried this with Asda Head office when I returned home. Whilst they offered a small compensation amount to adjust the purchase price difference, they did not explain why the store price was higher.
I thought they were remedying the situation, but when I visited the store 2 days later, the product was still priced at £1.95, and my visit was again a waste of time..
I queried this again, and was eventually advised that at the very base of a long website page, there was a note: “In-store availability, prices and promotions may vary from those online. Please check with your local store before visiting”.
I commented that they should put this note right by the website price listed, and not hide it away.
Although it would be a very quick job to amend the website, they have failed to do so as I write, 3 days later. I can only assume that they hope to encourage customers into stores by the offer of lower prices.
I have found Asda Customer Services unhelpful and incompetent, and their business methods to be very dubious. Obviously, I will not be buying products from Asda again.
