This is an update on my earlier report. I purchased a watch which a Catawiki "expert" certified to be in very good condition. It is a piece of junk which Seiko Ireland has certified cannot be repaired. I complained within the three day period, gave details of the defects in the watch, told Catawiki not to pay the seller and demanded the return of my money. I received no reply despite many reminders sent inside and outside the three day period. Finally, following a long delay, a reply was received which denied that I complained within the three days and nothing could be done. It is clear that the person who replied had not read my complaints and the reply was a pro forma generic response which failed to address the several issues which I had raised. I will be pursuing the matter through appropriate authority but in the meantime I strongly advise against dealing with Catawiki as it a fraudulent company. Since dealing with Catawiki, I am receiving constant correspondence from other on line auction houses asking me to participate in their auctions. These other companies were supplied with my personal data including my name and email address and I believe Catawiki gave my details. This is worrying because I gave Catawiki details of my bank account in order to purchase the defective watch. This company should be avoided at all costs and personal data should not be supplied as they are totally untrustworthy.
