Received my Brooklyn watch ...It took a while to get it , it seems it takes a while for Joma to get their merchandise out . Once again, I received a watch with a dead battery. I changed it myself as i buy my batteries in bulk via Ebay and sent this email : "Hello... My order finally arrived, and as a couple of times before , it arrived with a totally dead battery . Could you please credit my account $5.00 to cover the cost of the battery that I myself have already replaced, as I did before . Also, I appreciate your low prices, but do they not check the watches as they are sent out, and if not , why?" The reply I received is as follows: "Dear Sir/ Madam,We appreciate your business and we are sorry to hear that you are experiencing technical difficulties with your time piece. The watch may need a fresh battery. You have 2 options: 1) You have the option of taking the watch locally for a battery change and we will be able to reimburse you up to $[5 ] with a provided receipt. OR 2) send back for inspection. If the watch has not been worn, has all the original tags intact, no alterations have been made to the watch or band it can be accepted for replacement or refund (if any manufacturer's defects or abnormalities are found) Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Looking forward to hearing from you.Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. My reply was this : "As I wrote last time I received one of your watches with a dead battery , I have a collection of over 150 watches.... I Maintain my own watches .... Batteries of good Quality can be bought via Ebay for far less than the $6.50 cents I would spend at a CVS or Riteaid store , or the $10 plus I would pay some kid at the mall who has no idea what "Watch Grease" is to scratch up and not lube the o-ring correctly when replacing a battery . Last time I was credited $5 back to my credit card which to me is perfectly fair for me to buy and replace the battery myself. It would cost your company far more to pay an employee to re-stock the watch, and certainly costs your company far more in bad reviews when I and other customers continually get watches with dead batteries . I don't understand why employees are not able to simply check to see if a watch is functioning with a viable battery before it is sent out . It's kind of like me as a Firefighter leaving the Fire Station with a Fire Engine with no water in the tank ( though a heck of a lot less serious) , but you do get my drift ? You are not alone in this problem : Amazon is hideous at sending out returned watches with broken parts and dead batteries, I have been disappointed so many times and once , the INVICTA watch was broken and there was aquarium gravel in the box !!!( Yes , I hate to admit I own a few INVICTA's) But I digress.... The Brooklyn watch is a deal at the price I paid for it , and of really decent quality for a Chinese made watch with a ( Semi) Swiss (named) quartz Movement , nice band and buckle and gift box. But it is rather disheartening to receive ( More than once ) a watch that is not functioning right out of the box. Again, not worth my time and effort to return it , and not worth my money and time to take it to a Mall kiosk for someone less skilled than myself to change out a dead battery , and certainly not worth driving 26 miles to the 30 year veteran watchmaker in who services my Swiss Bulova's and would charge $30 to change a battery ( well, okay, probably $22, but again, you see my point) . So I will leave it at that , as I replaced the battery 10 minutes after I opened it as I was shaking my head and muttering to my 4 year old son that he could check watches to see if they are running better than the person who packaged my order.... (yes, I know , Child labor is illegal and he would have to have a nap and milk breaks....haha!) . Happy Hanukkah , Merry Christmas and Happy New Year ! Said my piece, I hope they got both a chuckle and a Business message out of it .
