The driver was polite, respectful and prompt. He was awesome! The coffee, tea and tour itself were nice as well, with the exception of the questionable ethics of the Luwak coffee shop. There were 2 civets caged with one pacing back and forth. When asked, the site employees said they’re let out at night with “handlers” watching them. Haven’t been able to confirm or deny, but regardless, the place seems to make enough to make a more habitable environment for the animals during the day and night. The guilt trip really hit after leaving, realizing the potentially real controversy that exists. It might behoove Bali Holiday Secrets to reconsider the partners in ensuring they are ethical businesses, I.e, avoid the elephant riding and so-called rescues that fuel black market trading.
