I bought a subscription to Maestro on the back of the 'course' by Jonathon Yeo, an unbelievably talented artist. It was beautifully shot and very well directed for a documentary. I say documentary because that is what it was and this was confirmed in one of the latter 'lessons' by the sitter who made the comment himself. Did I learn any more than I would have done on a 30 minute You Tube video? No. There was not a single demonstration that I can recall that covered colour mixing for instance. He is in the very nice situation to have his canvasses made for him so no demonstration of how to prepare a canvas just a discussion. It hasn't clouded my opinion of a very nice man who has a gift. The dog training course, however, has been very good with definite subjects and clear demonstrations. Marco Pierre white is a bit annoying but I have picked up some interesting tips from what is a glorified cookery programme. In my humble opinion the courses would be better served by a teacher from a respected college or university that covers the subject. I have doubts that I would renew my subscription.
