I purchased a ASUS Zenbook Duo 14" 2 in 1 Laptop mid October away on a work trip. I was so busy that I had no time to use the laptop but only to purchase software I needed like office and antivirus.
I didn’t even realise my product was faulty and after the 30 day period I saw the second screen was warped and the keyboard was not sitting flat. I compared it to another product in store (same model) and knew I had a faulty product. I called and emailed Curry’s explainng the situation and asked for a replacement. I explained I was very busy and had no time to fully test the product and it’s such a unique laptop that I didn’t even realise it was faulty. Customer service said the 30 day period had passed and they cannot help but try to repair the item which will need to go to Asus for the repair. I explained I had purchased extended warranty with Asus and wanted to know if this would make a difference. I was advised to go straight to Asus because it would be quicker due to the fact that curry’s will have to send it to them.
Waited almost a month and Asus sent back the laptop with the same issue, no repair of the warped screen just replaced the keyboard. I was fuming with them and contacted curry’s because just as curry’s and Asus, they love making it seam like they know the law re: consumer rights act. I explained to curry’s that I was advised by customer service that this laptop would be repaired at Asus and told to send it to them directly as it would speed the process up. Under the consumer act, I have the right to request for a refund or replacement if a repair hasn’t been successful.
Store manager from curry’s says she will email me and never does. It’s been the worst experience and it’s the second time this has happened with curry’s. First time with a cooker that was faulty and not repaired; years ago and now recently with this laptop. John Lewis or other retailers are very helpful and care about abnormal circumstances because they do try to help and get the job done. Actually every other tech retailer I have dealt with has been worth the business. With curry’s it never is because their brand is weak and it’s clear that their business isn’t worth the time a day for any person who has an issue. Things are not black and white and problems like this are unique. People who deal with customers need to know what to do when something doesn’t go as straight as the procedure state.
I will never recommend, condone this company or do business with curry’s again. You’ll get ripped off if you’re faced with an issue. I have an expensive laptop that I can’t even use. My wife needed it for work and now we are stuck with a faulty product. Curry’s sends me to Asus, asus sends me to curry’s: the retailer but no one wants to help. Lazy staff who already have the answer No at the tip of their tongue who don’t listen or try to understand. Badly paid staff do not care about customers. Terrible company. I hate the day I ever made the decision to buy from curry’s.
I hope you lose even more market share because as a company, you’re already degrading.
