Halen Môn Sea Salt is, without doubt or reservation, the best salt available on the planet. I am a salt guy. I have a lot of salt, various origins, flavours, textures, colours and so on. I receive salt from people on their travels, and I love the variety, don't get me wrong. But when it comes down to serious cooking, I can only think of using Halen Môn Flaked Sea Salt. It is absolutely delicious on its own as a finishing salt, but also has just the perfect amount of "saltiness" - if a recipe asks for 1 tsp of salt, and I use 1 tsp of Halen Môn, the seasoning level is perfect (often table salt is not salty enough, whilst rock salt needs to be used more sparingly than the recipe demands). I also use it for all my curing, pickling, and fermenting.
This may sound like an inflated review, but I can assure you it is genuine. I absolutely love this salt and start to panic a bit when I notice my bags starting to run low. My preference is always to take a day trip out to the HQ on Anglesey and pick up a restock directly (all sorts of other tempting goodies in the amazing shop) but have recently bought online as I couldn't make it out in time before the dreaded empty bag.
I know I'm weird that I am so invested in salt, but to me it is like cooking and eating gold dust - only the best will do. No other brand delivers the taste and flake that Halen Môn does. DO NOT SKIMP. Get the best.
