I have never made any claims in the 15 years we have had a campervan. I renewed in good time and didn't have the no claims certificate in front of me when I took out a new policy so ticked the box to say I had 10 years no claims (the maximum). When the certificate came through it was for 8 years because I hadn't realised that one time I renewed with our old company we took a cheaper policy which didn't carry forward our earned no claims which meant our no claims started again from zero. Our old company wrote a letter to say we had insured with them for 10 years without making a claim but One Click would not accept this. Because of the missing two years no claims they said they would charge us £90 (including a £39 fee to change the policy). The annual policy cost £206 so this was almost 50% of the whole policy cost over two years no claims - even though any search would show we have never made a claim. One Click reduced the charge to £70 when I argued but I still feel this is an outrageous amount. I accept paying some amount because I hadn't realised that my no claims had reset because of taking out a cheaper policy, but charging 33% of the whole annual insurance cost is disgraceful.
