So far, 6 months in, I am happy with my 12 yo daughters pinwheel phone. There have been a few hiccups, it is definitely more work than just handing your kid an iphone and setting up 'parental controls.' (Hint: apple parental controls don't work! Quick google search verifies.) Certain apps that require a sign up are kind of a lot of work because it must be done from a different phone and then login on the pinwheel. Sometimes it is a hassle but I've always been able to figure it out eventually. The pinwheel monitoring uses quite a bit of data so we had to go with an unlimited plan instead by the gig so that was a downside. The phone has weird notifications frequently that are nothing, which is annoying. And lastly, since I'm not familiar with samsung I have had to google how to do certain things on the phone but because of the pinwheel restrictions, the typical samsung things don't work so it's a bit of work to figure out. (Like shutting down apps.) But for the peace of mind of making sure my daughter has REAL parental controls, is only allowed certain apps, and certain contacts, is so worth any hassle we've encountered so far. And for the hassles I haven't been able to figure out on my own Pinwheel support is awesome. Their live chat is very responsive, quick, and helpful. I've been happy with the app selection so far as well. Only one app that I wanted was not already in the library/unable to be approved. Overall would recommend and will get one for my son when he's ready for a phone.
