Hatton Garden can be an intimidating and confusing place, with a hundred shops all of whom promise to make special deals, just for you, but where it is very hard to compare like-for-like between different shops. The reality is, the price differential between every shop when you get down to the 'bargain' price isn't that big - but given all the bartering and haggling you do, it's quite difficult to figure that out. Paul helped cut through all of that - he showed me a range of different diamonds, helping me understand how the different grades of colour, cut, clarity and size actually impacted the visual impression of a diamond when you see it up close. It's easy to get caught up in the difference between a VS2 and an SI1, or a D vs a G colour when you're browsing on the internet, but actually seeing things up-close made me realise exactly what mattered, and what didn't, and also pointed out a few things that I didn't know about even after hours of research on the internet.
