Like so many others, I have had a terrible experience with Viagogo and would recommend anyone reading this review to avoid them at all costs. I was persuaded to use the company by the promise of a bargain ticket for the Download Festival, which I paid for just over 3 weeks before the event. Everything seemed fine at first... the transaction went through without a problem and I received a confirmation email advising me that my ticket would be available for download no later than 3 days before the event, but this turned out not to be true. 2 days before the event I still hadn't heard anything and decided to contact them to to find out what was going on. Unfortunately, this turned out to be easier said than done, as there are no contact details given on their website whatsoever (try and find them if you don't believe me). In the end I gave up on the idea, hoping that I would hear from them the following day, which indeed, I did in the form of a second purchase confirmation identical to the first one, but with a new order number., No explanation was given, but I deduced that something had gone wrong with the original order, so they had sourced a replacement ticket. The ticket itself failed to materialize, however, and as the festival was less than 24 hours away, I realised I was going to have to speak to them no matter what. After wading through various forums on the internet and trying a number of different contact numbers, I managed to find one that worked. I was then subjected to about 25 minutes of grating hold music, before finally managing to speak to someone. To my relief, the ticket was then made available to me. Except that when I arrived at the festival, I was told by the staff on the gate it was void because the original purchaser had obtained a refund. Cue another phone call to Viagogo and more of the terrible music. Then the real farce began... someone in the event box office kindly agreed to speak to Viagogo on my behalf and was given numbers for at least 5 other tickets, all of which were just as useless as the first one. I then demanded a refund and purchased a ticket at the box office, but it didn't end there. The email I received confirming my money would be refunded stated that this could take up to 10 days. In the circumstances I felt this was completely unacceptable and phoned them up to have a little discussion about it (as well as to query why I had received another email on the final day of the festival advising me my tickets were ready for download). Their answer was that 10 days is how long a money transfer takes, which is strange, as the transfers I have made usually clear the same day. There are plenty more criticisms I can level at this pathetic excuse for a company, but it's late and I'm tired, so they can wait for another day. In the meantime, let me just reiterate that you use them at your peril.
