This was an outstanding experience. The hotel staff were excellent from Reception and Restaurant right through to Housekeeping. This is a strong sign of great management. The main restaurant was outstanding and well worth the small supplement. 10/10. The championship golf course was interesting and challenging even for high handicappers. The four par 3's over water made it great fun too. I would give the course 9 out of ten - it was a little boggy underfoot due to the combination of rain and all the water features; otherwise perfect. The pub attached to the golf club was a little soulless and the menu a little restricted and expensive but ideal for a pint after the round before dinner in the main hotel. The bar staff were very friendly and obliging so at least 8/10. The acid test - would we go again? Absolutely. It compares very well with our other favourites, Murrayshall in Perth and Matfen Hall in Co Durham.
