Hobbiton Movie Set & Rotorua Wonderland Tour – November 2019.
The tour guide was very friendly and professional. He gave frequent insights while driving us to the various locations and while we visited the Rotorua/Maori site. The tour group also provides a solid snack package for each guest and as much water as you need.
With regards to the tour destinations themselves:
After the Hobbiton tour (Hobbiton runs the tour and the New Zealandier guide will meet you at the inn afterwards), I felt we had ample time to enjoy our complementary drink at the inn and do some shopping at the gift shop. I don't remember exactly how much time it was, but it did not feel rushed.
The Rotorua/Maori site you visit can vary between tour groups and which tour you select. I enjoyed the site we went to. The thermal area had several locations to view mudpots an geysers (This tour does not go to the Champagne pool). There is also a kiwi house where you might be able to see a kiwi under red lighting if they are active. The Maori setup is very nice. There is a open courtyard where they perform an invitation ritual. They then let everyone into the Maori building to watch their performance. My other family members went with a different tour group (because they did not want to tour Hobbiton) and they went to a different site where the Maori setup and performance was not nearly as elaborate.
