After receiving another families deeds as well as my own and nobody contacted me until i made them aware i would say that people pay a lot of money for very little when buying an house and the service offered by banner jones was poor at best . When i think what i have just spent £500 on ...this shouldn't happen

I refer to conveyancing here and not the the Lasting Powers of Attorney. Overall communication was very poor - difficult to contact the person dealing with my sale and purchase and I felt that issues were duplicated as in when I received letters requesting information that had been given a while ago. This comment does not reflect solely on my conveyancing solicitor but I feel that when a client embarks on this apparently mammoth process, an initial meeting with the solicitor (and possibly estate agent) to discuss what is likely to happen and when to clarify some of the forthcoming months and relieve what can become stress and anxiety. I was told yesterday that the date for my moving would be 21st August, and embarked on arrangements to permit this. This information came from Wilkins and Vardy and I was informed that Banner Jones would contact me to confirm this date was convenient. When I had received such a telephone call I, trying to be helpful, rang your office this morning to reassure them the date was suitable, to be told that the move is not now to happen as the purchaser was experiencing problems regarding the mortgage! This horrified me and I have been exceptionally upset all day. From the beginning of this process I stressed that a move in September was out of the question and so it now seems waiting for October will be the imperative. Where the purchaser involved had offered today to move on 28th August, I feel I now have no faith in the situation and hesitate to agree to this at present.

Unfortunately I had to chase on a number of occasions as the work was not being progressed and then at the end of the process I was informed that there were additional charges as certain aspects had not been taken into consideration when the fixed price was quoted at the beginning of the work. I even went out of my way to turn documents round on the same day and deliver them by hand which on a journey home from Sheffield to Barlborough took me out of my way and meant I had to take time off work to get the documents to your Dronfield Office. So sadly it was not the best experience for me and whilst you were recommended to me I would struggle to recommend your services to a member of my family or a friend.
